The first team plays 11 matches in the Harrogate & District Union League. There are two leagues – one for singles and four-ball matches and one for scratch matches only. The Club Captain, who traditionally partners the Club Professional, leads the team and the remainder is made up from the lower handicap golfers in the Club. Harrogate Golf Club A Team won the Harrogate & District Union First Division Championship in 2002.
The Club is also represented in the Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs Divisional Championships. Each year 4 man teams from Clubs across the county compete in their respective divisions to try and gain promotion or avoid relegation. Harrogate is currently in the fourth division of the Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs.
The 2nd Team was created in 1994 to provide competitive and social golf for members in the 10-18 handicap range. The team plays matches against numerous clubs in the Harrogate & District Union along with an annual friendly match with Pannal. The team is led by our Captain Elect.
There is no formal league for the 2nd team and matches are normally played once against each club on a rotating home and away basis. Founder members, Harrogate, Knaresborough and Oakdale, play on a home and away basis each year.
There is a Harrogate & District Championship for the Second Division at which our team is represented each year by two 4-man teams.
